Kenzo Takada Wins Prestigious Fashion Award

Kenzo Takada, a renowned industry designer and veteran, received one of the Fashion Editors Club of Japan’s most prestigious awards back in 2017. Takada and his illustrious career were honored with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award at the fashion awarding event. In addition to Kenzo Takada’s achievements, Hiromichi Ochiai of FACETASK was named Designer of the year. Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Chitose Abe, Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani, and many more have previously received the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award.

Takada has previously won awards from the club in 1972 and 1999, the year he retired from his design company. Despite the fact that the 78-year-old designer has lived in Paris for almost half a century, he traveled to Japan to receive his accolade. Takada then gave a quick speech about his future ambitions. He also offered some words of wisdom to younger Japanese designers like Ochiai.

He was an early scrambler, displaying Spring collections in the spring rather than a season in advance, and has encouraged people to buy what they saw 45 years just before the retail model was generally established. Takada continued to establish a reputation for himself by hosting fashion presentations in circus tents and riding elephants along the runway to finish his shows as his Japanese-inspired designs continued to captivate the world.

Kenzo was well-known in the fashion world and was honored with several other awards, including the Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur, for his contributions to the industry. Takada was one of the sweetest and most giving persons anyone would describe to have worked with, and he also picked Ensemble Contre le SIDA to receive the proceeds from his Fan Campaign involvement.
