Supreme’s Spring/Summer ’21 collection features a slew of collaborations, including Emilio Pucci, KAWS, Vans, and many more. To round out the month of June, the streetwear label has collaborated with NERF toy guns on a Rival Takedown Blaster.
Unlike the NY-based brand’s Super Soaker toy gun, which debuted in the imprint’s trademark red and white hues in 2019, the recently released pair of toy guns has a more fun and summer-y vibe thanks to the heat reactive designs on each. The initial version features a body with a mix of blue and green artworks, as well as a minty teal pump and grip with orange blasters and triggers.
NERF is without a doubt the most well-known brand in the warfare play for kids genre. Their logo may now be found in almost as many locations as Supreme. And it is no surprise that these two are partnering up for another summer showdown, with everything from full-fledged VR competitions to Mandalorian blasters. Supreme has put a sleek new spin on the iconic NERF Rival Takedown Blaster, which was made available on June 1. The original red and black face of the single barrel pistol will be replaced by some colorful paint jobs that emphasize summer vibes. The first choice combined an oceanic blue with a dash of hazy green detailing that depict an archipelago dotting the barrel. All of this sits atop a mint-colored grip and pump. A flash of bubblegum pink, dreamsicle orange, and fuschia combined in one corner to offset the cool tone of the toy.
Lastly, instead of the traditional “Rival” insignia, Supreme has branded each piece on its side. Unlike other NERF guns, the Rival series used textured foam pellet ammo similar to the size of gumballs instead of the usual darts. It has an 8-round capacity and uses air pressure generated by a pump to fire at rates up to 90 feet per second.
