In a study conducted by The RealReal, it revealed that Louis Vuitton is ranked as the number one brand for women’s luxury. Prada was ranked as number three for women’s luxury on The RealReal’s hot list, and came in fourth place on its men’s luxury list.
Gucci was named to be the number two spot and Hermes rounded out the top three. Taking into consideration how many people are looking to sell their items at this time next year, The RealReal’s study explored which brands are going to rise in popularity.
It was noted that 17 percent plan on selling items from Gucci next year, 16 percent for Louis Vuitton and 15 percent for Hermes.It was also found that Italian brands seem to be the ones dominating this list, with nine out of ten top spots belonging to Italian designers.
The third most popular brand was Chanel, with 10 percent of those looking to part ways with their items stating they would like to sell them. While the top three brands consist of mostly handbags, it was also found that sunglasses were in demand as well.
A whopping 26 percent stated they wanted to unload their sunglasses during this time next year, with round edged frames being the trendiest. The Real’s Chief Marketing Officer Julie Wainwright spoke about the study, stating “Our annual resale report is based on a survey of over 4,000 shoppers who consign with The RealReal and reflects what they plan to sell as well as their preferences for brands. The resale market is an important predictor of trends in the luxury market, and this year we’re seeing a resurgence in value for design that has been around for a while – like midcentury furniture, for example – as well as new brands infiltrating the resale landscape for the first time.”
